Unpack the map files with 7zip. Format a SD card in FAT32 and copy the update map files to it. Insert the card in one of the SD cards slots in your MMI navigation. As far as understand with regards to the SD sat nav on an A3 / S3 you have to have the option for SD Sat Nav activated by Audi (it might of been when the car was originally ordered, in that case just get hold of the SD card) or someone with a vcds system. You wouldn't be able to get a Sat Nav SD card and just plug it in.

Basically there are 3 actions. 1-Sat Nav needs to be activated/enabled in your car (this is around @250) 2- Then an SD Card needs to be bought, 3- then this SD Card has to be activated and paired to the car. If you have Sat Nav activated in the car then you only need an SD Card with maps.
